Bath itinerary for couples: Friday

Morning: Arrive in Bath.

Afternoon: Pay a visit to the 57-acre Royal Victoria Park, which is just a short distance from the city centre. There’s a lot to be enjoyed here all year round – but from now until early January, there is an open-air ice rink. You and your significant other will be able to get your skates on and glide together on the ice like you’re in a scene from a romantic movie! The park is also home to an 18-hole mini golf course and the Great Dell Aerial Walkway, so there’s plenty of things to keep you entertained!

After all that fresh air and excitement, pop to the Jane Austen Centre to learn the story of Bath’s most famous resident and author. The unique and insightful museum is located between The Circus and Queen Square, two of Bath’s most historic landmarks. Why not stay for afternoon tea at The Regency Tea Room afterwards?

Evening: Head to the Thermae Bath Spa for a twilight session – the ultimate way to relax and unwind within a romantic setting. The spa houses the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain and has a rooftop pool offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Couples’ treatments are available here so you can enjoy a spot of pampering!

Bath itinerary for couples: Saturday

Morning: Start the day with a visit to Bath Abbey, easily one of this fine city’s most recognisable landmarks. The abbey’s impressive architecture makes for a wonderful Instagram shot, even if just viewed from outside. If you’re looking for jaw-dropping views, pay the additional fee for the Bell Tower tour.

Afternoon: Next on our Bath itinerary for couples is a Roman Baths tour! Visit what was once one of the finest religious spas of the ancient world. Today, it’s still filled with steaming spring water (reaching 46°C) and is one of the best-preserved Roman remains in the world. You’ll take an audio tour around the museum and remains. After that, we recommend a romantic lunch at the Pump Room.

Evening: Couples who laugh together stay together, so there’s no better excuse to go and have some fun at a comedy club! Head to Komedia Bath, which hosts a live ‘Krater Comedy Club’ event every Saturday night. The venue is a Grade II listed, restored cinema building and is home to a whole host of comedy, music, cabaret, club nights and more.

Pulteney Bridge, Bath

Bath itinerary for couples: Sunday

Morning: The historic Pulteney Bridge is another must-see in our Bath itinerary for couples. The bridge spans the River Avon and is an impressive example of Georgian architecture. It’s the perfect spot to soak in the views, take a selfie and meander around the shops that line the bridge along both sides. The view from Grand Parade (southwest of the bridge) is the best spot.

Afternoon: For a unique lunch experience, refuel at Sally Lunn’s Eating House, which serves up a fascinating piece of history. Set in the oldest house in Bath, this enchanting tea room is famous for serving the Sally Lunn Bun! This delicacy was originally brought to Bath in 1680 by the French refugee Solange Luyon (Sally Lunn). Check out the kitchen museum, where you can see the original bakery Sally Lunn used in the 1680s. Before you leave, be sure to pop to the gift shop to buy some of those beautiful buns to take home!

Evening: Travel home with loads of happy memories from your brilliant romantic weekend in Bath!
