Tan Hill Inn (campervan pub stopover)

Located on a remote hill in the Yorkshire Dales, Tan Hill Inn is the UK’s highest pub (1,732 feet above sea level!). It’s a brilliant spot for stargazing as it’s a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site. We can highly recommend the food – they don’t scrimp on the Yorkshire puddings! It costs £10 a night to park up at this 17thcentury pub, with showers and toilets on-site. A short drive away, you’ll find one of the biggest must-sees in the Yorkshire Dales – the iconic Buttertubs Pass. Crossing the high moorland between Wensleydale and Swaledale, the pass is a two-mile-long stretch that offers spectacular views.
Bolton Abbey Estate Caravan & Motorhome Club Campsite

Bolton Abbey Club Campsite is part of the picturesque Bolton Abbey estate. It’s a wonderfully scenic stopover surrounded by woodland and the stunning Yorkshire Dales. The campsite is equipped with all the essentials, from toilets and showers to electric hook-ups, laundry and dishwashing facilities. From here, you can explore the estate’s many miles of footpaths through moors, woodlands and fields. Of course, you are also conveniently located for Bolton Abbey itself, which was founded by Augustinian monks in the 12th century! Although this picturesque riverside abbey is now in ruins, the adjoining priory church remains intact.
Wharfedale Caravan & Motorhome Club Campsite

Wharfedale Club Campsite is a countryside haven, set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Its two fields are divided by dry stone walls, and there are numerous paths you can take to explore, making it ideal for dog walkers. The fully-equipped campsite gets you nice and close to one of the Dales’ prettiest villages – Grassington! With its cobbled streets and cosy pubs, you might recognise Grassington as the location for TV series All Creatures Great and Small. Another must-see near the campsite is Linton Falls, the ideal place for a picnic on a sunny day. Additionally, you can explore Burnsall from here. This charming little village is steeped in history as it was originally an Anglo-Viking settlement.
The Devonshire Arms (motorhome pub stopover)

This site in Cracoe, near Grassington, makes a fine alternative to the Wharfedale Club Campsite. You’ll be staying in the grounds of a cosy 16th century coaching inn! The overnight fee is £5, or £15 with electric hook-up, and you can use the pub’s WiFi connection. As well as being close to Grassington, The Devonshire Arms is also a handy stopover if you want to take on the Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss waterfall walk. This magical 4.5-mile scenic walk is an absolute must if you haven’t done it before. One of the very best things to do in Yorkshire, the views on this route are simply jaw-dropping.
Meadow Falls Campsite

Situated on the edge of Ingleton, Meadow Falls is a great spot from which to discover scenic caves and waterfalls. The campsite offers hardstanding, glamping and grass pitches, and plenty of facilities – including award-winning toilets! There’s also a children’s play area to keep the kids entertained. Meadow Falls is particularly well located for one of the Yorkshire Dales’ best walking routes – the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. This 4.3-mile trail takes in a series of spectacular waterfalls along the River Twiss and River Doe. Other nearby attractions include the impressive White Scar Cave, the longest show cave in Britain!
Wold Farm Caravan & Camping Site

If you’re looking for a coastal stopover, Wold Farm Caravan and Camping Site is a brilliant choice. This well-equipped, peaceful site is located at Flamborough Head, near Bridlington. Its pitches are suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans. As well as serving up stunning views, the campsite offers direct private access onto a coastal path leading to Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head. These are must-sees! Flamborough Head is known for its white cliffs, which rise dramatically from the North Sea. Look out for the local seal colony and keep your eyes peeled for puffins! The nearby Bempton Cliffs RSPB Reserve is one of the UK’s best birdwatching sites. Another nearby attraction is North Landing, one of the most picturesque beaches anywhere on the East Coast.

The Station Inn is a great choice for those on a budget! This traditional inn, set in the Yorkshire Dales, offers a free stopover on a first-come, first-served basis. Road trippers in motorhomes or campervans can park overnight for free – you just have to support the inn by purchasing food and drink during your stay. The pub provides portaloos and overnight toilet and sink facilities, as well as a waste disposal facility. However, there are no electric hook-up services. The inn is an ideal location from which to see the majestic Ribblehead Viaduct, one of Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks. Standing 104 feet and featuring 24 colossal arches, the Ribblehead Viaduct is a photographer’s dream!

Serenity Camping lives up to its name, as guests can expect a very laid-back, peaceful stay here. It’s just a mile away from the pretty fishing village of Staithes and seven miles from the lovely seaside town of Whitby and its imposing 7th century abbey. The site offers electric hook-ups, toilets, showers, kitchen and laundry facilities, and free WiFi. A nearby gem is the beautiful sandy beach of Runswick Bay, which was The Sunday Times‘ Beach of the Year in 2020. You’ll also want to pay a visit to the delightful coastal town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea. This is perfect for a traditional seaside escape!

This tranquil, family-run business welcomes touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. You can even enjoy a spot of glamping at this site, which offers stunning views over a wooded valley. The caravan park includes a children’s play area, a football field and on-site shop. It’s located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, which boasts miles of scenic trails and footpaths. As well as being close to Whitby, other nearby scenic spots nearby include Robin Hood’s Bay and Sandsend Beach. These are ideal places to relax and unwind by the sea.
